Monday was bring your favorite book to school. madison took "cat's got your tongue" and mackenzie took "the velveteen rabbit" - tonight mackenzie was called at 7:30 pm. she got caught reading. (we filled out a paper for the school and listed dates and times that were good for a teacher to call. if the student was "caught reading" they would receive a prize the next day.) madison was counting down the time while mackenzie was reading her harry potter book.
Tuesday at school, they did "poem in your pocket." students had to pick a poem, write it down and put it in their pocket. then if a teacher stopped them, they had to read their poem and they received a sticker and a hershey kiss.
mackenzie's poem was little pigs treat... said the pig to his pop, "there's a candy shop!" oh, please can we go inside and i promise i won't make a kid of myself if you give me a people-back-ride.
madison's poem was snowball... i made myself a snowball, as perfect as could be, i thought i'd keep it as a pet, and let it sleep with me, i made it some pajamas and a pillow for it's head, then last night it ran away, but first - it wet the bed.
tonight madi got caught reading by Mrs. M. (that is her mentor and her friend autumn's mom)
Wednesday night we went to family reading night. the theme was high school musical. there was hardly anyone else there. everyone was given a schedule and when the bell rang you had to go to each of the different classes. there were six lvhs baseball players there that read stories to the kids, they got to make bookmarks and even had lunch (pretzels, turkey and cheese.) the kids had fun.
Thursday was read a t-shirt day. so i found the only shirts the girls had with words on them.
Friday was pajama day. thank goodness, because madi didn't have any clean pants (that she likes).
