we all managed to get up, ready and out the door on time once again. while walking max to his gate, i asked him if he was ready for his second day. "i don't know" he says. and then as we walk in, i'm told "we're saying our good-byes at the gate today". then i have to say good-bye and watch him walk off to play like a big boy. i stayed there until the bell rang. to make sure he didn't rage out or disappear into thin air, i guess.
grocery shopping at wal-mart was pretty lonesome. i was sad, but rather enjoying myself. i was there for at least an hour. taking my sweet ol' time. trips to target solo could get pretty expensive, i'll have to save those for after i've picked max up.
by the time i get home, put the groceries away and clean up around the house, it's time to go pick up the mixter. he had another good day. he remembered his friend's name, kayla. he waved bye to her on the way out. he said he had races with her on the playground. and then later he tells me he forgot to give her his phone number so she could call him.
we had to run out to costco for some other groceries. max thought it was the coolest thing when a mom lifted the back part of the shopping cart up to let her kid climb in. i'm sure he'll be requesting that the next time we go shopping.
we picked up lunch on our way home. then a little while later, we went and got the girls. i decided that from now on, we are all going to sit at the table for homework time. max only had to finish coloring in a picture, but it took him as long as it takes him to clear off his dinner plate. he's not going to be as easy as the girls were/are.
we had something new for dinner. mushroom chicken baked in the oven. it was pretty good. max and madi spent most of the evening in the backyard playing. must be the somewhat-cooler weather. (that or because i snuck them some more water balloons)
while i was drying max off after his bath tonight, i told him the story of when us girls were younger. jennifer and i had just gotten out of the bath (together, i'm sure - we were much younger) and as we were drying off in front of the nice warm fireplace, jennifer got a little too close and burned her backside (tush). all i remember after that is someone breaking open a clear pill looking thing to put oil on her.
max and i had a good laugh. ;)
