today is... monday

no school. martin luther king jr day. i went to walmart to do the grocery shopping by myself. nobody else wanted to get up and get ready.  around 11:00, we went to the anthem park with jodie and kids. we had taco bell and then the kids got to play. (kenzie stayed home because her ear - the one she had the earache in - was oozing stuff out of it and she wanted to just rest) it was so warm out. i had my sleeves pushed up and was still hot. madi and max were both sweating. we stayed for about an hour. then max started to get ticked. first, he got off his swing and someone got on it, but he wasn't finished. then, he was trying to do the monkey bars and it was too hard, so that made it the worst day ever. we stopped at the 7-11 on the way home for drinks. and i know i shouldn't have let him get one. that would have taught him a great lesson. but, i'm weak and i couldn't deny the sweet max a slurpee. because as we got out of the car, that's who he was... sweet max.

max and i (and eventually madi), helped with max's school project... decorating a snowman. madi found some perfect twigs in the backyard to use as hands. he had a vest, an orange carrot nose that stood up off the paper and a top hat.

i tried a new "healthy" recipe for dinner. a chili one that looked really good in the picture. it wasn't so good. thank goodness i also made mac+cheese and corn bread muffins.

today is... sunday

i'm amazed (and annoyed) about how fast the house can be destroyed. i need to come up with some kind of rules or something so that anything that is brought out, is put away before something else is brought out. we are all guilty of making messes. but, i'm usually the one to clean it all up. it's like pulling teeth to get the kids to pick it up. speaking of teeth... kenzie's tooth became loose while she ate breakfast and she had it out before dinner time because she didn't want it to bother her while she ate.

after the house was picked up, madi and i ran to get capriottis and sonic. jan and the boys came over a little while after that to visit. then, that night, we ordered pin kaow. pad thai #5 was sounding really good to me. darric got the same as me and madi and kenzie shared some chow mein. max made himself a turkey sandwich and ate most of it.

today is... saturday

kenzie had a volleyball game this morning. 9:00. their team won again. the highlights of the game... 1) when she served and the ball hit a girl on the other team in the head. hello?!? pay attention. 2) when she set it to another girl and then spiked it over. 

we were pretty lazy the rest of the day. at 4:30 we headed to famous dave's for dinner. it's our goal this year to try a new place out every other week. we picked here because we thought max would be so excited to have ribs. since he's been talking about them lately. he hardly ate anything and whined about wanting to go home until i turned around and noticed he had fallen fast asleep on the table. kenzie and darric got the ribs and really liked them. especially with the special sauces they had. madi wished she had ordered the ribs, she got a pork sandwich, i believe. i got a boring ol' salad and darric made fun of me for it.

max was awake by the time we got home. all of the kids went into the other rooms to watch tv, while darric and i watched the other guys. it was ok. i laughed a few times. but, i think it was a little too over the top corny for me. darric liked it.

today is... thursday

i'm in charge of beans and baby food bars for tomorrow's luncheon. both are my aunt cindy's recipes. i really don't want to mess them up. went to wal-mart after dropping off the kids and got everything but the beans. (i got everything else that went in with the beans, just not the beans) and it is impossible to find apricot baby food. i had to call jodie for back up and she informed me that i could get it mixed with something else. 

i went and grabbed a bagel and diet coke. cranberry now. it's not the best, but it's cheaper than the dutch apple. ran over to albertsons to get my x-large cans of B+M beans and they didn't have any either. luckily, they had regular cans, so i grabbed 7. and picked up some of those keebler wanna be girl scout cookies. 2 for $5. just what i need. they're good, but not as good as the caramel delites.

max and i had an afternoon of mac+cheese and toy story I and III. then we picked up the girls. 

i made the baby food bars. then we ate dinner. chicken soft tacos (they had been cooking in the crock pot). darric took mackenzie to her 2 hour volleyball practice. madi whipped up a batch of brownies and then i dyed my hair. i've had enough of the grey roots.

today is... wednesday

i was moving along this morning. thinking i had everything/everyone all ready with some time to spare, so i sat down to the computer to work on some stuff. when i went out to get the kids to leave, i realized max was still sporting his crazy bedhead. so we rushed in the bathroom to brush his teeth and do a mohawk. he was having a hard time getting up and moving this morning, so i was really worried about how he was going to be when we got to school. on the way there, he told me he wanted to walk up. i could just drop him off. when i told darric, he joked that max was going to ditch and take off for the arcade. we compromised and i walked him through the parking lot then he was on his own for the rest of the way (a short walk down the sidewalk to the gate).

i ran to einstein's. a reward for having a decent morning. ;) after coming home to eat and clean the house up, i went over to kohl's to find me a dress. picked out a pair of earrings too. it was almost time for max to get out so i went and waited in front of the school.

there were a couple little craft things i wanted to get, so we went over to michaels real quick. picked me up fazolli's on the way home. jodie brought the kiddos over around noon. (she was going to get her hair done) then i took the 4 of them to pick up madi. we hooked up the tv's to keep them entertained. they watched about 2 minutes of Up before max accidentally unplugged it and they had to start it all over.

after we picked up kenzie, we came home and laid piper down. she went right to sleep. the others did homework, had some pudding and then played until jodie came to pick up shortly after.

i made dijon chicken for dinner. kenzie made the side dish... garlic zucchini. before it was done, i ran and dropped madi off at dance. her teacher recently found out she was pregnant, so she wasn't there tonight. home sick. came home and finished up dinner and when darric got home we ate. then we rushed over to get madi and take her to her school for this reflections art thing she entered. she didn't win, but she got a certificate and a $5 target card. sweet. we had cake and punch and then stopped at kfc on the way home to get madi something to eat and a couple little sides for those of us that were still hungry.

today is... tuesday

although i had to push him off to his teacher, max went to school today. and when i picked him up, he admitted to having a good day. let's hope tomorrow is much better.

today is... monday

 

and max refused to go to school. we got up to the gate, but he didn't go any further than that and i wasn't in the mood to fight with him... so we came home. i tried to punish him by not letting him watch tv. but that didn't last very long. he was a little butthead for most of the day. and when we weren't picking up the girls, we were at home. so that was fun. we had chicken again for dinner. with asparagus and mashed potatoes and leftover french bread.

today is... sunday

thought i didn't have a photo for today until i looked at my point and shoot that max pulled from my purse while we were at grandma + grandpa carter's.

darric and i tried to sleep in today, but whoever was watching full house in the living room thought they needed to have the volume up pretty high so we too, could hear every bit of the corniness. 

we went over to grandma + grandpa carter's at 1:00 for a yummy home cooked meal (including homemade french bread and cheesecakes for dessert). madi is doing a writing contest about a historic event and she wanted to interview grandpa carter. 

kenzie typed up a book report while we were there about president truman. then grandma helped her with the spell check before she printed it out again.

today is... saturday

my alarm went off at 5:15. i had plans of waking up at 6, but i couldn't get back to sleep. we had to be at henderson international (school) for kenzie's first volleyball game at 7:30. the game started at 8:00. they did pretty good. won 2 of the 3 games. kenzie did really good. her dad keeps telling her to show more emotion. she's very shy on the court. 

we picked up carl's jr for breakfast. blah. i took the kids at about 10 and dropped them off at my mom's. then headed over to crystal's house for camie's baby shower. i always get so nervous to go see people I haven't seen for awhile, but i'm always so glad that i went. i got to hold her baby when i got there. he is so tiny and so precious. it was good to see everyone and visit.

i left around 2:00 and headed over to david and cindy's. derrick was having a birthday party for kayla and invited us all over. i was more nervous going over there. but it was good to be around them. and hopefully it was good for them to have us around. derrick got a bounce house, so that kept the kids super happy. heidi and andrea were there too. along with their little boys that couldn't possibly be any cuter. (my kids came with my mom and jennifer. jodie came too and dave brought grandma dee a little later) 

i think we left around 5:00 and it took us about 45 minutes to make the trip all the way around the 2-15. we stopped at long john silvers/a&w for dinner and came home to eat. we were all pooped. it was a long day.

today is... friday

jodie and the kiddos came over. i picked up cafe rio for us. and jodie picked up corn dogs for the kids. the kids played until it was time to go pick up the girls. 

that night we had chicken, potatoes and mac+cheese for dinner. kenzie cooked both of the sides. we scrambled up the stuff to make some more caramel popcorn. thank goodness we weren't out of anything. then we all tried to watch the sorcerer's apprentice. max was in a bad mood most of the movie and would not sit still. i kept dozing off. it was a long movie. i think darric was the only one to watch the whole thing.
