happy because i keep buying boxes of lucky charms for st patrick's day but we keep eating them
happy because when max agrees with something you say, he says "i know... right?"
once darric and kenzie left for volleyball practice, we were out the door and at a certain drive thru for a little after dinner treat. hot fudge sundae, vanilla cone and a caramel frappe. see madi's new phone in the first picture. she finally got that today. after waiting over a week and making a phone call to at&t.

+ darric worked.
+ madi played with her new lalaloopsy dolls.
+ kenzie made vanilla cupcakes with orange frosting from scratch.
+ max conquered a couple levels of the donkey kong game he borrowed from his cousins.
+ we had breakfast for lunch at ihop.
+ the four of us watched gnomie and juliet in 3D on the big screen.
+ i FINALLY ordered a blog book. (well, two books for 2008) can't wait to get them!!
kenzie had a volleyball game on saturday. they won this week. the whole team played much better than last week. we signed kenzie up for the next season with this coach.
jodie and the kiddos swung by to bring madi her birthday present. some cute new shoes for the warmer weather.
sunday, we went over to jan + dana's, along with the daytons. we had famous dave's for lunch. and the kids played and played. and did a performance of wii thriller for all of us.
oh...
and max got a buzz cut.
he was all for it until his dad starting shaving and he realized how short he was going.
p.s. this boy with the buzz cut... he likes beef jerky.
+ i love fridays. i love that i know exactly what to feed the mixter for lunch... mcdonalds. i love that there is no homework to be done. no cranky kids sitting around the table trying to figure out problems. and we (darric and i) usually have a netflix movie waiting for us to watch.
+ for the past 5 weeks or so, max's class has been doing this deputy reading program. every week they are given 5 new words to learn to read and then on thursdays they are tested on them one at a time. max is now on level 6 and received an award and sticker.
+ max found this cartoon on netflix called pingu. it's about penguins and you can't understand a word they are saying. but the dancing that max does to the 5 second song at the beginning and ending of every show is hillarious. darric tries to start every day with a pingu song/max dance.
+ kenzie got to go on a field trip today to go bowling at sunset station. and eat at the buffet. all for getting straight A's.
+ madison is trying to come up with a science fair project. i think there are only 2 classes that participate in this and she was in the other class last year too.
[m] 02.14.11 happy valentine's day... darric surprised us all with sweet cards and new books... max already got his books the other day... kenzie stayed home sick and we still managed to leave extra late... madi had a light bloody nose... and max decided he did NOT want to go to school when we got to the gate... once again, i pulled him to his teacher and then she pushed him in the classroom... he had valentines to pass out and he didn't seem to care... until about 20 minutes into class time... after his teacher read a funny story... got my grocery shopping done... max took a nap, so i left him home with kenzie to go get madi... i made chicken enchiladas for our vday dinner... we had heart-shaped napkins and root beer in bottles... then me and madi ran to pay her costume fee and picked me up a starbucks... i cut brownies and scooped some ice-cream for dessert... and then when i almost forgot... i got the kids' gifts ready... kenzie got socks (fun un-boring socks), madi got a mini lalaloopsy set and max got a puzzle and new basketball shorts...
[tu] 02.15.11 everyone was back to school today... without having to be forced... we had our blog meeting at jodie's after max got out... our schedule this year is tricky with max half day, quincy a few days a week and beckam the other days of the week, that doesn't leave us with much time... but we always make sure there's time for lunch and it's usually jimmy johns... max left happily... we had spaghetti for dinner...
[w] 02.16.11 madi had dance tonight... her regular teacher was back... madi took her in a jar of conversation hearts for valentine's day... there was nowhere for me to sit because i had to stop for a starbucks... so i came home and made dinner...

+ friday the little ones had valentine's parties, but max was home sick.
+ saturday we had the fancy family dinner at the sedillo's.
+ sunday madi had a little birthday party.
+ monday darric gave us all new books and we had chicken enchiladas for dinner. then i remembered to pass out the kids' valentine gifts that night.
+ monday was also kenzie's school dance, but she was home sick.
madi had a little party for her tenth birthday. really little. because she was home sick for 2.5 days and didn't get to pass out all of her invites. she had one girlfriend that came. noelle. and her sister too. and there were cousins. thank goodness for cousins. the kids picnic-ed on the floor. they made their own sandwiches. and then decorated sugar cookies. madi opened presents. and a little just dance II was played danced.
i had plenty of chances to get a decent photo and still didn't. (the candles were re-lighting ones and i did not know this when i bought them)
the goodie bags had pencils, 2 mini pens, a stamp, mini paint set, mini frame, and some chocolate.
my favorites... the white ones. i don't even bother with the other colors.
[m] 02.07.11 max refused to go to school today... so much for making him get up and eat and get dressed and brush his teeth and brush his hair... because he wouldn't even get out of his booster seat when we got to the school... he got to go grocery shopping with me at walmart... and then to costco... he loves costco (haha)... and then to pick up madi from school because she didn't feel good... today's good news... i finished my book sarah's key... it was very VERY good... think i might need to get her next book, a secret kept...
[tu] 02.08.11 madi was left at home on the couch while i took the other two... max was in a good mood... i was excited... until we dropped off kenzie... then came some anger "i don't want to go to school" "school's boring"... great... once we got there, he put his jacket on and got out and walked up by himself just fine... around 9:30 my phone rang, but i missed the call... it was max's teacher calling to inform me max ripped up his paper in art and yelled at the teacher and then was disruptive once he got back to class too... he kept moving his chair around and wouldn't talk to the teacher... so she walked him up to the principal's office... darric called to talk to him (and the principal on speaker)... the principal took him to the art teacher to apologize and then back to class to apologize... darric picked him up from school and took him to lunch for some one-on-one talking time...
[w] 02.09.11 madi stayed home again... which put my plans of a trip to the mall on hold...
[th] 02.10.11 madi's birthday... ten today... she felt good enough to go back to school... we rushed to get ready and stopped at einstein brothers for some bagel poppers for her to take in to her class... we dropped kenzie off last and she was almost late... i ran to target... got another book... a secret kept... got a few other things... ran into chris jenkins... went over to michaels looking for a cookie cutter that they didn't have... got some cookie decorating stuff... when i picked up max, he said "i want to go home and go to sleep"... another one's sick... unfortunately for him, i had to go to costco... we met jen out there to get all of our stuff... we had a bunch of different little orders... mostly valentines... max didn't want to go to lunch so we came home... (well i got in-n-out for myself)... he slept... darric got home early... madi got to open her present from us... some new clothes (her phone is on it's way - she picked it out)... aunt jesse dropped her off a card today too... she was loving her special day... darric showered and we went to red robin - madi's pick... we had to hurry because kenzie had volleyball practice... jodie came over that night to put together valentines... she needed my scorer... madi and max tried to entertain the always-on-the-go-piperoni... max had medicine in his system and was feeling better...

sitting up and sleeping is what the sick kids are doing. they're also eating only a half of their donuts and mac+cheese.
[f] 02.11.11 today max and madi were to have their valentine's parties... max was burning up and ended up staying home... and madi's was actually called a "small gathering"... but she said it was more like a party anyways... her teacher came in for that last hour of the day... (she was still out from her recent surgeries)... madi came home with a box full of goodies... max, still had a bag of fun dip valentines, all with his picture on them... that makes me sad... (we did go get dunkin donuts this morning to kind of make the day feel like a party)... dave and christi came over later... we had rosati's pizza and talked photoshop...

[sa] 02.12.11 up early for kenzie's 9:00 volleyball game... they lost today... annoying... after, me and madi ran some errands... bath+body works... target... gas... albertsons... we got some girl scout cookies on the way out... and subway for lunch... darric took kenzie and max to the park... kenzie needed some practice serving... i made my cheese dip... grandma + grandpa carter dropped off madi's birthday present (a cd she wanted and a walmart gift card)... we went to jen + dave's for the valentine's party... it was a fun filled night... darric had gone with robert, brian and dave to the UNLV game... i believe they lost...
[su] 02.13.11 us girls cleaned up the house... the boys went to the book store... then they took dani and billy to crystal palace for chase's birthday party... i went to make icing and realized i had no sugar... so off to albertsons i went... the birthday guests arrived at 1:00... well, one of madi's friends showed up and her sister... and then jodie, jen, grandma becky and the kids... when everyone was gone... i cleaned up again... then sent darric and madi off to walmart to pick up a new tv for the bedroom... kenzie's 9" tv wasn't working out for us... darric and i watched knight and day... i really liked it... think i need to buy it so i can watch it again soon...
this year's valentine's party at jen + dave's... tacos for dinner... trifles and cupcakes for dessert... the kids played BINGO... then decorated sugar cookies... and then exchanged valentines... i think us moms have more fun with this part than the kids do ;) ...
