This Is It

here's a list of what 10 looks like right now at our house:

brown eyes that can see once again
a mixture of awkward adult teeth mixed in with some cute little baby teeth
a voice that gets louder with every bit of excitement that passes through her
putting away her stuff means throwing it in the hallway instead of her room
and dirty clothes go next to the hamper instead of inside
puts the skinny in her super skinny jeans
loves to draw, paint, dance, read
still a fan of mac+cheese
makes requests of getting her hair cut short

on this tenth day, she celebrated her tenth year

it's the tenth of february 2011. madison's tenth birthday.
we start the day off by running to einstein's bagels to get 2 boxes of bagel poppers for her class.
when she gets home from school, she gets to open the gift from us... clothes.
yes, she got some new skinny jeans. even though i think she loves the holes in the knees better.
she had a card from the beach family to open too.
then she picked dinner... red robin.
except we were in a hurry because of kenzie's volleyball, so she didn't get sung to.
that night, her and her dad ordered her new phone online. 

randomness

+ max now says "your side" while i'm making a quick turn in front of someone. it's really "his side"... but, he's still learning.

+ madi got her new glasses... the cosmopolitan ones from wal-mart with brown squares down the sides (much better than the purple peace signs that were tied in first place)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

yes, she is in the bathtub. we needed the light.

+ mackenzie went skiing for the very first time with the daytons on sunday. she had a great time... with tommy... on the bunny hill...

+ mackenzie got her report card and it was full of A's. very proud of her... even if she got one B on an exam. :)

 

+ max got sent to the principal's office tuesday. his teacher left me a message saying that he ripped up his paper in art and yelled at the teacher and then kept moving his chair after he got back to class. so she was walking him up to the principal's office and i needed to call and talk to him. darric ended up calling. and he also picked max up after school too. we've got some work to do.

+madi came home from school early on monday and missed tuesday and wednesday too. she's been coughing and had a bit of a fever. i'm sure she'll be good to go tomorrow (since it's her birthday)

+ max had his 100th day of school wednesday. (although it's really 97 or so because he missed a few) his teacher had an old lady wig and hat on. she said she felt 100 years old when she woke up this morning. max took in 100 chocolate gold fish crackers and he got to mix them together with other stuff his classmates brought in to make a trail mix. 

i turned 34

and nothing felt one bit different.

the next afternoon: i picked up jodie and we went to the fashion show mall. we shopped around in the forever 21 (2-story) store for a few hours. after we got ourselves a starbucks.

that evening: me, jodie, my mom, jen, sandy, calie and awburn met at the cheesecake factory for dinner. it was my first time eating something other than just cheesecake there. the food was really good. so was the company. and so was the cheesecake. next time i'm getting the pineapple upside down. 

later that evening: all of us (-awburn) went to target to walk around around. good stuff. and me and sandy got a starbucks before it closed at 9pm. 

my new purse and one line a day book from jen+jodie. i have some kizzash in that purse to spend too. maybe i'll put it towards a couple blog books. :)

[m] 01.31.11  darric had to go to lake havasu at midnight last night... it especially stunk because he didn't sleep much the night before... he got home safely just before i left to take the kids to school... i went grocery shopping at wal-mart... got max a $16 booster seat... came home and tried to keep quiet while darric slept... worked on max's valentines and when he got out of school, he helped me with some of them too... he was SO excited about his new seat... he can sit all the way in the back now... i got flipped off by an old man when i pulled out into traffic into the other lane... first he honked at me... so i slowed down to give him the evil eye and his long, wrinkled middle finger was pointing straight up to the sky... that's classic... 

[t] 02.01.11  hello february, my favorite-est month... i went and saw my friends at einsteins... i pretend they're my friends - the one guy knew i got my hair cut... i'm even friends with another customer... an older guy named john... he talked to me one day... and i said good morning to him today... we had a meeting at jodie's after max got out... it included jimmy johns... for the first time, in a long time, max left without flipping out... i was so proud of him... and i made sure to tell him... that night my newer hurricane vase got broken (that's what happened to the last one) while the girls were playing volleyball in the front room... there's been a lot of glass cleaning up between duke and the kids lately...

[w] 02.02.11  went to the library today... haven't been there in a long time... they've done a little remodeling... max put together all of the puzzles and then we checked out our nine books... went and had lunch at the jason's deli off stephanie... max doesn't share the muffins well... but he ate most of his food, so i can't complain... he got an ice-cream cone... then we went to costco (photo lab)... one of the guys commented on max's ice-cream because it was so cold out... it was super cold out today... potato soup was in the crock pot for dinner... got gas and as i drove down the street, realized the little gas door was open... what kind of goofball does that??... me... luckily, i was just around the corner from home... madi had dance... i stayed there with her and enjoyed the quiet... well, it wasn't really that quiet, but i didn't have to deal with the ones making the noise... 

[th] 02.03.11  while max was in school... went to target for new bathroom rugs (my bathroom) curtain liner (kid's bathroom) and some other stuff... ran to old navy for a couple shirts and jeans for all 3 kids... ran through sonic for a diet coke... had mac+cheese with the mixter for lunch... took madi to get her new glasses... they came in a day early... cleaned the kids' bathroom... taught them how to dry off before getting out of the shower so they don't leave the floor sopping wet... darric took kenzie to volleyball... she got invited to a bday party... the three of us at home read library books... 

[f] 02.04.11  my birthday!!! went to target to return shower curtain and got myself a new book... sarah's key... went to einstein's for breakfast... then ate it in the parking lot of old navy... returned a pair of jeans and got two new pairs and 2 more shirts (i think i'll be returning one of the other ones i bought)... for lunch, max got his mcdonalds and i got cafe rio... my cousin ben, called to wish me a happy birthday... we talked for a little while... that was a nice surprise... got the kids ice-cream from mcdonalds after school (cus it's my birthday)... darric got home a little early... the delivery guy brought me a box of cookies from jude and dan... yum... my mom picked the kids up after work and me and darric went to town square for dinner... jodie text me asking what i was doing for my birthday... they were going out to eat but weren't sure where yet... we invited them to come eat with us at the yard house... the food was good... but i wish i was starving when i got there so i could have eaten more... we picked up the kids and came home...

[sa] 02.05.11  darric took madi with him to the car dealership this morning... darric was so happy with his new truck... a 2005 nissan titan... it has everything he wanted... jodie was texting me to see if i was ready to go out... it was 1:00... we rode in the new truck to get them all mcdonalds for lunch and then i went and picked up jodie... we went to the fashion show mall... got ourselves a starbucks... then spent a few hours in the 2 story forever 21 store... i ended up getting 3 shirts... some earrings, a necklace and a couple things for madi for her bday... we picked up mom and headed to the cheesecake factory at the district... jennifer, sandy and calie arrived shortly after we did... then awburn... we had to wait about an hour for a table... but it was worth the wait... the food was very good... the company was great... the cheesecake was delicious... our waiter was funny... and i got sung to... of course, no birthday dinner is complete without a trip to target... and me and sandy hit up the starbucks there just before they closed... i dropped off my mom and then jodie and came home to finish off some of my dinner... the rest of the family went over to vince's house to watch the ufc fight... darric brought home the spinach dip that syrina had made... she knows i love the stuff...

[su] 02.06.11  kenzie left bright and early with the daytons to go skiing for her first time... i hear she did pretty good... darric and max went to get a haircut... but max refused to get his hair cut... then they went to albertsons for a couple things... we went to jan's house at 2:00 for the super bowl... we ate and ate and then ate some more when the apple dumplings were ready... (pioneer woman's recipe)...i had no interest in the game so i tried to keep miss gabi entertained...

08... throw mackenzie an actual birthday party (she'll be 13 this year. yikes!!) 
09... read 5 books that aren't from the chick-lit section (i gotta start somewhere)
10... learn the entire thriller dance (at least the one she does on 13 going on 30)

12... host a themed girls only party at my house

14... spend less time on the computer
15... tell my kids YES more often (don't even stop to think for an excuse or tell them later)
