This Is It

this weekend

madi participated in a art day camp at liberty high school on saturday. we got to the school before 9:00 to get her registered and as she was walking into the theater, the high school student at the door shouted out to the other students on the stage... "this is madison, everyone say hi to madison!" and the kids on the stage said hi and invited her to come sit in the circle. and then i left. 

around 5:00 that evening, we arrived back at the high school. grandma and grandpa carter came with us to watch madison's little performance. she didn't have a speaking part. she got to hold an umbrella and at the end they did a little dance they learned to under the sea. they were busy all day. learning creative dramatics, musical theater, making masks and eating lunch.

when we left there, we went to nacho daddy on eastern to give it a try. it seems like the parking lot is always full. the food was just ok. we probably won't be hurrying back to eat to eat there anytime soon. (the kids' mac+cheese was alright)

sunday, darric took all of the kids off roading and hiking up in red rock. brian and his girls, vince and his baby girl and mike s went too. they saw a waterfall and a snail. 

excitement of the week

++ madi had her science fair wednesday. her project was to see if an egg would float in fresh water or salt water. it floated in the salt water.

 

++ when i dropped her off at the gate thursday morning, she got out, shut the door and opened it back up two seconds later crying that she had shut her pointy finger in it. she was very worried i was going to take her to the doctor. she did not want to go to the doctor. i was glad it wasn't bad enough to need a doctor. poor thing. she came home with me and we put ice on it. and then we visited miss piperoni in the hospital. she was up all night having trouble breathing. luckily, she came home that evening alright.  

++ i got my very first blog book!! 2008. now i need to get busy with the other 3 years because i love it.

++ darric and i have watched one and a half seasons of weeds on netflix. i love being able to watch 3 or 4 episodes a night if we want (if i can stay awake). oh... and i almost have the theme song memorized... little boxes on the hillside, little boxes made of ticky tacky. haha.

++ kenzie had an orchestra workshop after school on thursday. it went from 3:00 - 6:00 with pizza at 5:00 and a performance for the parents afterward. (me and madi went) she had fun.

++ and now it's friday. yay!! max and madi got to wear hats for donating $5 to a candlelighters fundraiser. max could not decide which hat to wear. the final decision was for his dad's bass pro shops one. and he decided that just before he got out of the car.  

++ p.s. madi thinks she dropped her lunch box on the sidewalk when she got her finger in the door because it's nowhere to be found now. 

dashboard photo + tom

we started out taking some photos from the dashboard while we waited for madi to get out. i had to sneak in that kiss while he was trying to make a silly face. it totally threw him off, because i don't think that's the face he wanted to make. then max took the tab to play with tom cat. is it weird that i feel bad when max hits him in the face and makes him fall on the ground. i just want to make him purr and say cute things. not beat him up, step on his tail and make him scratch the screen with his claws. boys are weird.

March 01

it's the first of march, so i thought i should blog about something.

+ i think i forgot to mention last month that darric got a new truck. a nissan titan. we all fit in it comfortably, it does all the off-road stuff darric needs it to do and mackenzie is not embarrassed to ride in it. we love it. on sunday, darric took the mixter to get an "hdmi cable". when they came back a few hours later and told me how much it cost, i wanted to choke him. he showed me the receipt which i looked at and threw on the bathroom counter as i continued to blow dry my hair. then he brought in the box with the "cable" in it and started to open it up. and that was when i noticed it wasn't a 300' cable, but a laptop. if that wasn't enough, he got me photoshop elements 9 too. what a great surprise. 

+ madi was so excited her teacher came back to school today. they even had a welcome back party the last hour of class.

+ yesterday, the kids were off because of staff development day. jen and jodie and all of the kids came to hang out. us moms and piper went to nothing bundt cake and pier one (work related stuff - haha). we also got a few projects done with the silhouette and i love how they turned out. now if the silhouette was capable of cleaning up after 9 kids, i'd love it even more. 

+ the boy with the white glasses at einstein's called me by my first name this morning before i even placed my order. i am an official einstein brother's regular.  now if i could get them to hurry up and bring back the orange mango bagel... 

+ i think i'm ready for spring. 

it could be because of the yummy new oils i got to put in my yummy new oil warmer from bath & body works.
