• grabbing a starbucks drink before max's practice one day and he taps me on the arm and points a bit excitedly at someone that had just walked in. i turn around and a man in fatigues (that i did not know) was passing by us. it made me smile that it made max happy to see him. he whispered to me "that man's in the army" and he knows this because his teacher's son just went into the army and they talk about it quite often.
• darric heard kobe barking in the middle of the night one night and went to check on him. after looking all over madi's room, he finally realized the dumb dog was under the bed, hanging out (stuck) with the not-so-happy cat. one day they will be friends... i just know it.
• max and madi just got their report cards. straight a's for both of them. madi also brought home some of her latest assignments. 100% on all of her spelling tests and a few stories they had written in class. it was the first time i read them and i got a chuckle out of one. she wrote about how scared she was the night i went to a book swap and darric was in oregon. so the kids were there alone (with kobe). i had no idea she was so nervous about me leaving them there.
• winter is over and max has requested a new pair of gloves. not to keep his hands warm, but to help him kick butt at tetherball. he says he even beats the older boys. as long as he has his gloves.
