march 23rd through the 29th
i would have kept max home from school all week if it was up to me (and max). but darric thought he was ready to go back on tuesday. i compromised and sent him back on wednesday. darric was home with us monday (he had taken the day off since we were thinking of having kenzie do two tryouts in arizona, but we didn't).
tuesday morning, max requested donuts for breakfast. he didn't really want to go inside because his staples weren't covered up, so while i was naming off the donuts we wanted, he stood back a bit so they couldn't see his head.
his sisters took advantage of him for cool selfies. after he watched every episode of the power puff girls on netflix, we moved on to playing solitaire.
on wednesday when i dropped madi off at school, she realized that she hadn't done her hair that morning. it was in a bun still from the night before. she wasn't too concerned about it. max went back to school today. i walked up with him and then waited until he went inside. i wrote a note for him to give to coach farr, excusing him from PE. max said it stinks when you can't do the only things you like at school, PE and recess. as he walked in with his class, his teacher says to me, he'll be fine. i wasn't sure i would be though. max said when they got inside, his teacher told everyone max had to get staples in his head, so you don't have to ask him what happened. and that was it. that afternoon, i met jen, jodie and posie at cafe zupas. we ate and went over some of our tax stuff.
madi rode the bus after school to watch the boy's basketball championship game at chaparral high school. she didn't get home until after 6:00. kenzie went to the boy's volleyball game at silverado. she had me drop her off like 2.5 hours early. she had her practices monday, tuesday and thursday from 6:00 - 8:30.
friday was the last day for max's volleyball, so i let him stay after for it. they had pizza and popsicles and some of the kids played in the water. every morning and every night, darric gently washed max's wound with some baby shampoo. at night, he would cover it with gauze and wrap a bandage around it so it was protected while he slept. and on the days that he went to school, they wrapped it up too.
madi paid for her 8th grade field trip. she managed to get all the money she needed. when i dropped her off thursday morning for student council, there was already a line forming outside. i guess there were only 60 spots left. madi and her friend both got one of those spots.
(i noticed the bushes right behind the block wall in our backyard had these cute yellow pom poms on them. i decided to pull a twig off to admire it closer, only to find out there were little thorns on it. then i had to google to find out what it was... a whitethorn acacia. pretty and prickly.)
saturday was our easter party out in logandale. mason stayed the night with us and madi stayed the night with grace. sunday morning, i went and got donuts for the crew. a little later, we went and traded mason for madi. that afternoon we went over to grandma + grandpa carter's to visit. the bertrands were over there too. that night, i made the whole family come sit out back with me because it was so nice out. there was something shining up by the moon. darric thought it was an airplane for a little while. then he got one of those apps on his phone and it showed it was jupiter. pretty cool. i had to take a picture and send it to my dad. they were in utah and i figured it would look even cooler up there.
