We started this boy's 11th birthday off with donuts. (Luckily dad worked a bit last night, so he was home to have breakfast with us) I got a couple Pokemon donuts. Max thought about having one, but it just didn't look that yummy, so he went with a maple frosted.
At 10:00, we met up with Jodie and the kids at the M Resort to go swimming. (locals are free until noon) Jodie and I lounged in the chairs in the shallow part of the pool while the kids all played in the four foot section.
Around 11:30 we ordered lunch. It was more than I wanted to spend and the chicken fingers were hotter than the kids liked, but we were hungry. The ranch was really good and so was the turkey avocado sandwich I got. We saw a crazy bird, twisting sideways with his beak stuck up in the air. We watched skywriters spell out #RISE in the sky over and over again, all around the valley. (eventually found out it was advertising Katy Perry's new song Rise) We all sprayed on sunscreen, but not nearly enough because we were all pretty red when we left at 2:00.
Of course we had to stop at Maverik on the way home for drinks and that night the Birthday boy fell asleep on the couch with sunburned cheeks and shoulders.
The next day I made some funfetti cupcakes so we could sing to him and he could blow out some candles. Because I feel like that is an absolute must for birthdays (even a day late).
