Friday morning, Jen sent a text saying that she was going to go up to Park City for the weekend and asked if we would go with her. Jodie's house is being torn apart right now (plumbing) so her and the kids have been up there, out of the dust and with water, for the last week. Darric was ok with us leaving, he was going to just chill and work on getting all better.
DAY ONE | SATURDAY, JULY 23RD
The kids and I were up bright and early today. Left our house at 6:00 and arrived at the Sedillo's just before 6:30. Mason was on his way to scout camp, so we were riding along with just Grace and Jen.
We stopped in Mesquite to grab a quick breakfast from the Jack-in-the-Box drive thru. Then we stopped in Fillmore at the Maverik to use the restroom and get drinks/cookies (this is the first I learned of Maverik having yummy cookies.)
We met up with Jodie and her kids in Lehi at Funtopia around 12:30. Come to find out, they only let a certain amount of people in at a time so we had to make an appointment for 3:00. We had time to kill so we went over to Target to walk around.
At 3:00, we were back at Funtopia strapping harnesses on and watching the safety video. Unfortunately, the slide was broken, but the kids got to do everything else in there for a full hour.
Kenzie and Grace were the only ones to do the jump in the air things. There were all kinds of fun walls to climb. On a couple of them you could race someone up and it timed you. Some walls, the clips that you climbed up, would fall after a certain amount of time. There were also these tall skyscrapers that the kids walked on top of. Most of our crew was brave enough to give this a try. I think everyone had a great time.
We left there and went to eat at Goodwood BBQ. The food was yummy. Out of all the kids we had at the one end of the table, Madi was the one to spill her drink.
From there we headed up to Park City and went to the condo. Then we all walked around the corner to the park. Jodie bought all kinds of balls for the kids to play with but they spent most of their time just playing on the playground.
We challenged the big girls to hang on and spin around that roller thing that Piper is on above. Kenzie tried, but was too big to make it around, she'd just fall to the bottom and smack her hip on the ground. It must not have hurt too bad because she tried it a few times. Madi had better luck doing it. She could pretty much clear the ground on her way around.
We walked over to Rite Aid next to get Thrifty ice-cream. And then the girls picked out some nail polishes so they could paint each other's nails when we got back to the condo.
I started feeling sick about halfway through the day. By the time we got our ice-cream, I was feeling like crap. Jennifer got me some Emergen-C to take when we got back to the condo. Then I got a fever, which broke in the middle of the night, so I was burning up. This is kind of how the rest of the trip went. I'd feel sick-ish during the day and then pretty crappy at night. I was so worried I was going to get others sick, but I think I managed to keep it to myself, until we got home. (sorry Madi)
DAY TWO | SUNDAY, JULY 24TH
This morning we got up slowly and got ready. Then we headed over to the Park Silly Sunday Market (an open air market down Main Street). Parking was a little insane. It probably took us longer to get in and out of our parking spots in the garage than it did to walk the entire market.
We all tried Ice Lollies. Which was nice because it was a little warm out. And then some of the girls couldn't pass up the bath bombs. They filled a tube with all kinds of scents. (I think that's all that was purchased while we were there)
When we got to the end, we decided to walk back up through the stores to avoid the crowds.
And we stopped at Main Street Pizza & Noodle for lunch. Which is where we stopped to eat when we all came to Park City back in 2004. This time we got a big table in the back room. Which was really nice for our party of eleven. I was really wishing I wasn't sick when all the food started to arrive. Everything looked SO good, but I only had the appetite for one slice of cheese pizza. I enjoyed every bit of it though.
No one spilled their drink this time, but there was a little arguing going on over the cheese fries at the other end of the table.
After lunch, we headed to Jupiter Bowl for some bowling. Chris, Tauni and their girls met up with us there. They had some kind of group special, but you had to purchase pizza and drinks with it. So we got even more food and we were kind of surprised that more than half of it got eaten.
We were in a room with one other group and we each had two lanes to bowl in. It was a pretty cool spot. Bumpers came in handy for the younger crew. But, not much could help Posie's ball get down the lane any faster. At least once, it came to a stop half way down and we had to call for assistance.
After bowling, the kids all got a few tokens to use in the arcade. Max and Beckam had fun playing the four person air hockey. It took awhile for them to get done.
We made a quick stop at Starbucks before heading back up to the park. We were there for a couple hours, at least.
We went back to the condo afterward for a minute. As we were pulling away, Jen noticed a guy looking in some of the windows that might have been one of our bedroom windows. So we watched him and then Jodie got out and asked him a few questions. He said he got locked out and was waiting for his roommate to return. Then he walked across the street.
We drove a couple blocks away to eat at Chu'basco. None of us had been there before. The food was alright, not as good as we were hoping it would be. While we were sitting there, the mysterious guy from the condos came in by himself to eat. Beckam watched his every move... just in case.
After dinner we came back to the condo for the night. Some of the kids went outside to throw the balls around and to keep an eye on the guy that came back with his roommate, who was probably his dad, he was an older man. The dad wasn't very happy that the kids were playing with the balls out there. If one of his windows got broke, he'd know who to come to.
At some point, Kenzie was trying to cut a rice krispies treat and then scrape it out of the pan with a knife and she ended up cutting her finger. The same one she cut while camping. Luckily this cut wasn't as bad as the last one.
DAY THREE | MONDAY, JULY 25TH
Monday morning, Quincy set her alarm so that her, Grace and Kenzie could all walk to Starbucks to get drinks. Madi decided sleeping in sounded better. The rest of us slowly got up and got ready. Jodie's kids had a camp to go to this morning. They left before we did. We packed all of our stuff up and headed out shortly after Jodie returned from dropping them off. We stopped in Lehi and picked Kaelin up. (She was coming back with Jen and Tauni was coming to Vegas later that week) She was a talkative one. The first half of the drive, she was told to direct all of her questions to Kenzie. She had a bunch.
We stopped in Fillmore for lunch. Me, Jen and Kenzie all had Costa Vida and the rest of the crew got Burger King from next door. Our next stop was in Beaver at the cheese factory. Most of us got ice-cream. Max got Lemonheads. The rest of the trip, Kaelin talked with Max and watched him build her a house on Minecraft. The drive didn't seem to take too long but we were all glad when we got back into town. Even though we could barely see Vegas because of the smoke or smog that was covering the entire valley.
When we got to Jen's we moved all of our luggage into our car and headed home. And I planted myself on the couch for the rest of the night.
