FRIDAY | FOOTHILL HIGH SCHOOL
Darric took the day off so he wouldn't miss any of the tournament. Max had to come with us. (Darric promised him that if he was good, they would go to Fry's on Sunday) We had to have Kenzie there at 2:00 and the first game was at 3:00. They played Valley first. Luckily, enough of their team rolled in just before 3:00 to play. Silverado easily beat them in two sets. The final score was 25-4, 25-5.
5:00-ish they played against Boulder City. We killed some time by going to the 7-11 for a snack. The game started out with Boulder City leading by 6 points and then Silverado woke up (I think they were still sleeping from the Valley game) and ended up beating them in two sets. The final score was 25-18, 25-8.
This was a new move they've been working on. The first time they tried it, the timing was a little off, so Kenzie had Tehani do it again and she killed it.
After that game, we took Max and went to Panda for dinner. By the time we got back, Madi had arrived with two of her volleyball teammates. They came to watch the Varsity girls. She hung out with her friends the rest of the night.
The last game was against Sanger, a team from Fresno, California. I made the mistake of sitting by the other team's moms. (Because that was the side Silverado started on) I cheered very loudly that game and as soon as I could move, I did. Silverado played so well together, it was awesome. They beat Sanger in two sets too. The final score was 25-10, 25-8.
SATURDAY | LAS VEGAS HIGH SCHOOL
Saturday morning we had to have Kenzie at Las Vegas High School at 7:30. Madison and Max both wanted to come with us. (strange) The first game was at 8:30 against Legacy High School. Grandma Becky came to watch Silverado beat them in two sets. The final score was 25-14, 25-15.
Before the game, right after they walk through and tell the other team good luck, they scream and shout and gather in their huddle. During their waiting time in between games, they came up with a new cheer for the huddle. It involves fast clapping and slapping on their legs.
The second game of the day was against West, a California team, around 11:30. They beat them in two sets too. The final score was 25-15, 25-13.
After that game we took Madison and Max home and then swung by Burger King for lunch and ate on our way back to LVHS. The third game of the day was against Durango around 1:30. Mason had his dad drop him off (LV is his school now) and he hung out with us, watching Kenzie for the rest of the day. We got to see Coach Amy and Coach Jess and Makenzi A. (We also saw all of the other parents and girls from the past two years on Nevada Jrs) There were some struggles during the first set, but Silverado still beat them in two sets. 25-23, 25-16.
After that game, they went to the brackets depending on how they placed. Silverado ended up getting another team from California first. This team, Central, was better than the last two California teams they had played. They ended up losing in two sets to them. The final score 14-25, 20-25. They finished in 5th place and did so much better than they did last year, so that's pretty awesome. (Green Valley got lucky and played Palo Verde first. They ended up beating them and then lost to Central too, putting them as the "Top Local Team at LVI".)
