September 19th through the 25th
This Thursday was the first day of fall. And it felt quite fall-ish in the low 80's.
* Found some cute Halloween foods at Trader Joe's. Halloween Joe Joe's and Ghosts & Bats chips (they taste like those Munchos chips). Then at Target I couldn't pass up on Hotel Transylvania 2 for $10 (such a cute movie) some Snickers for me to hide in the freezer and more cans of pumpkin.
The first half of this week, Max enjoyed walking to Joey's house after school. The two of them would get a little bit of homework done before I swung by to pick him up. Then on Wednesday, when Max got to the car, he tells me "you're picking us up tomorrow". Joey finally got his band instrument and they had to carry it home. The case is long and it's pretty heavy. They took turns carrying it and had other friends that walk home that way, help a little too. It was quite the workout.
Max ran the mile in PE on Tuesday (it was too hot out on Monday). Him and his friend were the first ones done, tying each other with a 8:48 time.
Madi had an ortho appointment Tuesday. She got her chain tightened. Grandma wasn't there when we got there. Megan said she left, but she wasn't sure why. So I sent her a text and she called to let me know that Jodie was heading to pick up the kids and felt like she was choking, so mom went and picked her up and took her to the hospital. Not sure if it was an anxiety attack or what. She's going to have some tests done.
Kenzie's team got new grey volleyball warm up shirts. They're very nice looking. They got to wear them before their game against Coronado.
Friday morning, Darric took Kenzie to the High School at 5:30. At 6:00, the varsity team and 6 adults headed to California in three vehicles. Kenzie rode up with Kaylynn, Lydia, and Catherine. They stopped in Barstow and had breakfast at IHOP. Then they headed to the beach to hang out for about an hour. Got to see the stinky sea lions before going to eat at Juice Caboose. Then they went to La Jolla High School for the Coastal Classic Tournament. Mackenzie played the first set of the first game and the coach could see that she was in pain. Her lower left leg was hurting her. So her coach had her sit out so it didn't get any worse. Her team ended up winning all three games that day but then on Saturday, they lost all of their games. They drove home after the tournament on Saturday and we picked Kenzie up from Silverado around 7:45. Her coach talked to Darric about her leg and suggested taking her to the doctor to make sure it wasn't something serious.
After school on Friday, Max walked with Joey to his house (he got to leave his instrument at school). I picked them up at 3:30 and took the two of them over to Jacob's house to hang out until 9:00 that night when his mom brought them home. They had breakfast for dinner, learned how to throw cards faster and played outside.
Sunday morning, Darric and Kenzie went to Quick Care to get her leg looked at. The doctor came in the room and asked what was going on and she told him it hurt when she played volleyball. And he said "well, don't play volleyball" then walked out of the room. They took an x-ray and figured out it was shin splints. The doctor told her to rest it, no jumping. (Darric let her coach know and he decided to have her sit out of the next week's games so she'd be better by the time they really needed her against Green Valley)
That afternoon, Max and I went and got dog food. Checking out the guinea pigs and mice on our way in and the cats on our way to the check out. Then we drove up into Inspirada to look at some model homes. We looked at a few that I've already been in, but were new to Max. The KB and Pardee ones. Then we found some new Toll Brother homes neither of us had seen yet. There were only two houses, but they were all decked out in the design department (Toll Brothers is good at doing that).
That evening, mom and dad had just returned from a trip to the Utah house and they had 17 boxes of apples and pears that they picked off their trees. So me, Kenzie and Max went over to get a box of each. We visited for a little while and checked out mom's new car before heading back home.
