I dropped Kenzie off at the airport just before 2:00 on Thursday, March 9th. Their flight was at 3:55. She sat next to Logan on the way to Colorado.
They stayed at the Courtyard Denver Southwest/Lakewood. She roomed with Kenzi, Logan and Jay.
They did awesome this tournament. Winning three games the first day, three games the second day and not losing one set during those six games. Unfortunately, they lost their first game on Sunday so they were done after that. They made it to the gold bracket though and ended up finishing 9th out of 90 something teams.
Their first game on Friday wasn't until 4pm. They played Tulsa Juniors 18. The final score was 25-11, 25-9. At 5:00, they played Colorado Juniors 18 and won 25-20, 25-22. Their last game of the day was at 7:00 against Club Cactus Juniors. They beat them 25-11, 25-22.
On Saturday, their first game was at 8am (but it probably felt like 7am since Colorado is an hour ahead). They played TEAM Hiki and won 25-22, 25-17. At 10:00, they played Norco 18 Blue and won 25-23, 25-22. And their last game was at 1pm against ASEVC 18 Premier. They beat them 25-17, 27-25.
Sunday's game was at 8am (but probably felt more like 6am since they're an hour ahead and daylight savings). They played IFJ 18 and lost 18-25, 26-24, 8-15.
While in Colorado they ate at Chipotle, Macaroni Grill, PF Chang's and the Mellow Mushroom (pizza).
They were originally flying home at 8:00 Sunday evening, but Jess was able to switch their flight and they got home around 4:20. Since they had to fit 12 people on a different flight, the girls had to sit wherever there was space. Kenzie almost got sat in between two creepy looking guys, but she was able to find another seat next to some lady. Luckily she got the aisle seat. Because she wasn't feeling well and about an hour before landing, she had to make a mad dash to the restroom to throw up. She asked Jess if she could go because the seat belt light was still on (because of turbulence). Jess followed behind her and helped her get the door open. Kenzie made it inside, but didn't make it all in the toilet. So she had quite the mess to clean up. :(
She still wasn't feeling well on the way home. And ended up pulling a plastic bag out of her duffle bag to throw up in. She stayed home from school the next day and eventually started feeling better.
