This morning we all slept in even later than we did last Easter. Everyone was eventually up by 9:30. Of course, the kids waited until they were all together before going to check their baskets. This is something they've always done.
The Easter Bunny had a hard time tracking down Baby Binks this year, so the kids got the older Peter Rabbit instead. Max's is a baseball player. Along with the bigger chocolate bunny, he also got the world's smallest (working) Rubik's Cube, some Peeps, Robin's Eggs a fidget spinner and an outfit that he picked out at the Nike store.
Madison got a chocolate bunny, Peeps, Robin's Eggs, a bath bomb, mascara, a swimsuit and a fidget spinner. (she made a comment about how she wanted a spinner too, so a separate Amazon order was made after Max's)
Kenzie got the bunny, Peeps, Robin's Eggs, a bath bomb, mascara and a swimsuit. I'm pretty sure her chocolate bunny was eaten for breakfast once again.
As soon as the kids were done going through their baskets, I was off to start getting ready. Then I made the carrot cake and pesto pasta. And by the time I got that all done, it was already time to leave. (I didn't even do my hair, just left it clipped up from after my shower) All five of us loaded up the car, swung by to get drinks at Circle K (no "enjoy the beautiful day" lady) and then swung by to get Eli. We arrived at mom and dad's right at 2:00.
This year we had mom, dad and grandma Dee. The Meltons (Matt came later). Jen, Dave, Grace and Mason. The six of us. Sandy, Steve, Ryan, Allie, Sophie, Cade and Coda. We ate first thing. Ham, hot dogs, pesto pasta, funeral potatoes, macaroni salad, beans (Piper ate lots of beans today). And Steve made a big bowl of fruit salad. I think that was everything.
There was eating, some swimming, playing catch with Darric and then Jen's big bag of plastic eggs got filled up. Three large eggs had slime in them that Grace made the other day.
The kids were all waiting patiently in the house with their grocery bags. Trying hard not to peek out the windows. Once the eggs were all hidden, we gave Posie the go ahead. She came running out. Across the pool deck, past tons of eggs. We reminded her to get the eggs. So she stopped, grabbed one and then put it back down and kept going. Madi jumped in and helped her get her bag filled.
The rest of the crew came flying out shortly after. It didn't take them long to work their way across the entire yard collecting every candy filled egg.
Once the eggs were all collected, the kids gathered on the blankets to empty out their goodies. Some eggs had dollar bills in them. And when a kid got one, we made them holla for their dolla. Max ended up with three dollas.
We had dessert. My carrot cake, Jodie's banana pudding and some mini muffins Steve got from Smith's (they were good). There was a little more swimming while some of us visited. And then it was time for everyone to head home. It was a lovely Easter thanks to those we shared it with. And thanks to the wind for blowing just enough to keep us cool on this sunny day.
