max was supposed to be at the school at 5:45 tuesday evening dressed in his "best clothes". he arrived a couple minutes late dressed in a nice pair of jeans and a new t-shirt i got him from old navy with a camaro on it. since darric got home from work at 5:40, we had to park down the street from the school and stand at the back of the multipurpose room once we got inside. it wasn't too bad, leaning against the back wall even with the family that came and stood right in front of us.
it started at 6:00 with a slide show of all the fifth grade students. if the parents sent in pictures, there was one of them when they were younger and then a more recent photo. most of the photos got reactions out of the students. giggles, oohs and aahs. darric said both of max's photos got the loudest reactions. (his photos got me a little teary-eyed too)
during the past couple of weeks all of the students had to write an essay including some of their favorite school memories. they were all read in class and then the students voted on their favorites. the winners got to read them tonight. and when that was done, all of the fifth graders got to go up to receive their promotion certificates.
best clothes or not, he was still the most handsome kid there. :)
that family that was in front of us... their younger kids were given a phone to watch videos on. people three rows up from us were turning around to look our way because the volume was up so loud. one lady even asked, in a not so kind way, for them to turn it down. then the kids were sent back by us. the little girl petted kenzie's toe and let out a stinky toot. and half way through the promotion, there was something going on by the restroom. come to find out, these people's son had thrown up all over the floor just before he could make it into the bathroom. once he cleaned himself up a bit, the whole family left. i felt bad for the kid, but it was nice to have them gone.
