over the weekend, darric showed madi a picture that he used to always draw when he was younger. a race car that he thought was pretty cool until he saw drawings from kids that could actually draw. after showing her, he insisted that she had to draw a race car too. so she sat at the table for awhile. drawing and coloring it all in with her new prisma colored pencils. and then it was time for the reveal. her dad was so proud. (the car at the top is darric's drawing)
after kenzie spent most of her day with her friend eugen, they came by the house for a little while. eugen brought with him a hat that he crocheted for duke. of course, he didn't get to see duke because he's always hiding, but the next day kenzie and i got him to come out and try on his new winter hat. he froze still for about 60 seconds. just sitting there staring at me. i couldn't stop laughing. i was also a bit scared that he was going to scratch my eyes out. as soon as i snapped a couple pictures, he knocked the hat off his head and took off.
already this year i've tried five new recipes...
baked ziti with spinach - this one is a keeper.
salisbury steak meatballs - these were ok, the meatballs had the texture of wet dog food but that could have been because i used all ground turkey instead of half ground beef/half turkey.
mexican flatbread pizzas - this is a keeper too. kind of tasted like navajo tacos but they were much easier to make.
slow cooker chicken and mushroom stroganoff - another keeper. i couldn't wait to have leftovers the next day.
cheesy crockpot cowboy casserole - this one was pretty good after adding some tony's to it. it kind of reminded us of tin foil dinners so i think i'm going to try it next time with the ingredients we put in those instead.
