A week before school started, we had our annual Back to School Fashion Show at Jen and Dave's. The kids are always excited to show off their new school outfits/shoes. And hopefully with a week until school starts, all of the clothes will have time to smooth themselves back out in the kids' closets.
THOSE IN ATTENDANCE:
The kids and I. Mom, Dad and Grandma Dee. All of the Sedillos, plus Jacob's girlfriend. Awburn, Paisley and Penelope. And all of the Meltons.
WHAT WE ATE:
Deli sandwiches, meatballs, chicken salad (for sandwiches), macaroni salad, macaroni and cheese (that I made), fruit and chips. For dessert, rice krispies treats and mom's cookies.
ON THE CATWALK:
The little ones were shy at first. Penelope would come half way out and then head over to her mom. Posie got her twirling down really well so I'm sure most of her pictures are a bit blurry. Kenzie couldn't even wait for the little ones to finish, she was dying to come out and strut her stuff. We're pretty sure she is going to try and be in the fashion show way after she has graduated... from college.
This year Grace is going into 8th grade, Madison is going into 10th and Kenzie will be a senior.
Paisley is starting kindergarten, Piper is going into first and Quincy will be a fifth grader.
All the girls took turns coming out with each other. And the three boys stuck together every time. Doing dance moves, throwing out non-gang signs and "popping" their feet to show off their shoes.
Beckam's going into third grade this year and Max and Mason are both moving up to new schools with Max in 6th grade and Mason in 9th.
And I think we learned that if we want Jacob to willingly model his new clothes, we just have to invite his girlfriend to the party. He only had a new shirt, but we only had to ask him once to show it to us.
The "dressing room" after the fashion show was scattered with clothes, backpacks and tags.
I tried to get a picture of Piper and Paisley running into the room, shaking their butts. They thought they were pretty funny.
If I was a little faster taking this picture, I would have caught my dad trying to do a braid in Quincy's hair. Maybe he was trying to show Kenzie how it was done.
Most of the kids went swimming afterwards. Even though the water had turned green. I think Dave wanted it to be cool looking like the diving pool at the Olympics.
Jacob had three boxes full of stuff that he wasn't going to be able to sell and was taking to DI. Max and Beckam spent a good hour probably going through those boxes when we first got to Jen's to see if there was stuff they wanted (or stuff they could try and sell). And just before leaving around 9:00, we all went through the boxes and found a bunch of pet stuff to bring home to the dogs. The dogs were very excited about their new toys, but then I had to put everything away because Kobe was being a bully and taking everything from Joe. Max was very excited about his LED light up keyboard (minus key caps). He turned it on when he went to bed and it lit up his entire room.
